The Perfect Shower
There is nothing quite like a good shower, so I thought I would post about the perfect shower.
No one has time to have a bath these days showers are so much easier to have a quick shower rather than a soak in the bath. Don't get me wrong I am a big fan of having a soak in the bath sometimes only a soak in the bath will do, recovering after the first day of snowboarding for example.
The elements for a perfect shower
- Good water pressure
- Different settings on the shower head
- Good Soap
But seriously there are lots of different types of showers available and making a decision on the correct kind of shower will mean that you can have the perfect shower every day.
Electric Showers
Electric showers are supplied with water directly from the cold water tank, the water is then heated within the shower unit finally supplying hot water through the shower attachment.
Electric showers don't use hot water that is stored up in the hot water tank and they are fairly cheap to run. On the down side electric showers have a limited flow rate in comparison to mixer showers. Even the most powerful electric shower can't match a mixer shower unit.
Mixer Showers
It is not just as easy as electric and mixer showers, there are a few types of mixer shower to consider.
Mixer Shower with a Thermostat
Having a thermostat mixer shower means that hot and cold water mix and the shower compensates for any variations in both pressure and temperature. Thermostat Mixer Showers require no electrical installation and are a safe option if you have wee ones using the shower. Showers with a thermostat valve are slightly more expensive.
Manual Mixer Shower
A manual mixer shower basically does what it says on the tin hot and cold water are mixed and you get your shower. The down side is if someone in the house flushes the toilet you may get a shock with the change in temperature from normal to hot.
Pressure Mixer Shower
A pressure mixer shower is basically the same as a manual mixer shower but a pressure balanced shower compensates for water pressure variations but not for any changes in temperature.
Power Shower Mixer
This is the daddy of all showers a power shower uses a pump combined with a mixer shower to give you a nirvana like shower. These are expensive but well worth it.
If you like me are a fan of showers and you have anything to add please post a comment..

Showering Experience
Hi Simon
I am glad that you are as passionate about showers as the team here at DIY Focus!
If you are planning to update your shower I really would recommend a mixer shower with a pump, I am about to overhaul the ensuite bathroom at my place and I am going to opt for one of these.
Expensive but well worth it.
